Universal Links for Podcasts and Audiobooks

MTShare started with music. Today we're expanding — podcasts and audiobooks now get the same universal-link treatment. Paste a Spotify podcast episode and your friends can open it on Apple Podcasts or YouTube. Paste a Spotify audiobook and it opens on Apple Books.

🎙️ Podcasts

Paste any Spotify podcast URL — an episode, a show, or a clip — and MTShare creates a universal link. Click it on any device and it resolves to whichever podcast app the listener uses. Episodes match across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Show pages match at the show level so new listeners can subscribe on their platform of choice.

📖 Audiobooks

Spotify audiobooks now link out to Apple Books. MTShare uses iTunes Search API with strict title + author matching to find the right edition in the listener's country, so the link opens the actual audiobook, not a random search result.

Strict accuracy, no fake fallbacks

For music we've always allowed a search-page fallback: if a song isn't on Apple Music, we can at least send you to music.apple.com/search?q=.... For podcasts and audiobooks that approach would be worse than useless — searching "Joe Rogan Experience #2000" on Apple Podcasts gives dozens of unrelated hits.

So we made podcast and audiobook matching strict. If we can't verify the exact content exists on the target platform, we don't show a link for that platform. You see only the platforms that actually have the episode or book. Less noise, more trust.

Different icons, different content

Universal link pages now render a small badge next to the title so you always know what you're opening:

• 🎵 — Music track (the default)
• 🎙️ — Podcast episode or show
• 📖 — Audiobook
• 💿 — Album
• 🎵 — Playlist

Your trending page, dashboard, and mobile app all show the same icons so you can quickly scan a list and know what's music vs what's spoken-word.

What about YouTube Music / Deezer / Tidal / Amazon Music?

For music tracks we match across nine platforms. For podcasts and audiobooks we match only on platforms that can actually verify the content:

• Podcasts: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube
• Audiobooks: Spotify, Apple Books

The other services either don't offer podcasts/audiobooks or don't expose a public API that would let us verify a match. Rather than show you a dead link, we show nothing.

Regional availability

Apple Podcasts and Apple Books have different catalogues per country. MTShare detects your region and queries the right storefront when creating the link, so the creator sees a link that actually opens. Viewers in other countries get their own local edition when available; if the content isn't in their store, Apple shows the usual "not available in your region" message — a limitation of the Apple catalogue, not MTShare.
